Oversight: Review and evaluate cost proposals provided by the contractor through plan take-offs, subcontractor proposals and estimates, use of estimating software, construction experience and knowledge. Facilitate cost negotiations with contractors. Part of this responsibility will be to review and evaluate contractor time and material records and cost documentation for inclusion in change orders. Document Preparation: Prepare independent estimates of probable costs for potential change orders; This will include drafting field related change orders and developing scopes of work/cost estimates of the work. You will also develop Authorized Cost Breakdown spreadsheets and Change Order Negotiation Memos for all negotiated change orders in addition to developing and issuing weekly change order status logs. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management 5 or more years' experience as a cost estimator or change order engineer Proficiency with estimating software Proficiency with and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point) Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to understand complex MEP projects Hands-on construction field experience as Inspector, Superintendent, Asst.
